Ce6 now allows for up to 30 separate tracks linked to a same proxy to be selectable for rapid operations, six at any given time, within a single Ce6 task. This allows users to consult, edit and complete multiple tracks without having to exit their Ce6 task.
To use this new function, click on 'Asset' and then on 'Load Tracks."
This will open a specific view listing all tracks loaded for the project.
If the list is empty or the desired track has not yet been loaded, the user will need to be familiar with the process to load and assign tracks in the project.
This is explained in detail through a practical exercise guided by the following Scribe presentation:
Understanding and swapping track grid positions
Once all the tracks needed are loaded in the project, by clicking on 'Asset' and then on 'Load Tracks,' the user will access the view in the example below. In the example, 14 total tracks are currently loaded, but as noted, the maximum number is 30.
The Tracks in slots 1.1 and 1.2 (highlighted in green above) are the two tracks currently displayed in the Ce. As you can see below, the tracks visible in the Ce editor are the two in those slots. These are the two tracks that can currently be worked on in the text editor.
The tracks positioned in the secondary slots 2.1, 2.2, 3.1 and 3.2 are not visible directly in the Ce editor, but are available for a series of rapid operations through the Ce menus.
Users can click on the dropdown for each track and load tracks in desired grid positions, according to which operations they need to perform or which tracks they need to display.
This will swap another track into the desired position, including the possibility to "swap in" one of the remaining tracks in the "Available Tracks" list.
When swapping track, both track names will be highlighted in green in the grid and their new grid position will also be highlighted in green in the list of available tracks:
To remove a track from a grid position and leave the slot empty, click on the dropdown and select that same track's name from the Available Tracks list, thus emptying out the slot.
Users can also remove tracks from the Ce.
Clicking the minus icon to the right of a track that is listed in the available tracks will remove it from the available tracks list.
Clicking Save will refresh the Ce and the track will no longer be loaded in the cell position it was occupying and will not be listed under available tracks. When the user removes and then re-adds the same track before they click Save, they will have to choose the cell position again.
How to offset multiple tracks at once
One of the operations currently available for use with the Multiple Tracks functions above is the possibility for the user to offset multiple tracks at the same time, which can be highly useful when we know that a proxy has a specific offset that affects multiple configurations.
To do this, the user must first ensure that the tracks they intend to offset are selected in the six grid slots we looked at above.
Next, the user should proceed as if offsetting a single track, by clicking on 'Event,' selecting one of the two available main tracks (which will serve as "in-focus track" - in our example, the TMP-SDH English) and then selecting 'Offset.'
This will open the following menu:
By clicking on the dropdown menu highlighted above, the user will be able to change the selection from "In-Focus Track Only" to either "All tracks" or specific single tracks among those in the six Multi-track grid slots, by simply clicking on the tickboxes.
Please note that the original in-focus track is always selected by default for the offset operation and cannot be deselected, and the Current Start Time and New Start Time displayed when selecting a range operation refer to the event in focus in that original in-focus track.
The user can then apply the intended offset to all selected tracks at the same time.
NB: This function is currently not available for Dialogue Lists, as it does not support two-cell tracks such as the separate dialogue and OST tracks of a DL task.
How to submit multiple tracks through a single Ce task
Another useful operation available to users to perform on Multiple Tracks is the possibility to submit "external" tracks linked to the same proxy through a single Ce6 task, without having to search, assign and open separate Ce tasks in OM.
By clicking on 'Asset,' the viewer will see a list of the tracks placed in the six grid slots of the 'Load Tracks' function. By hovering over any desired track in the list, the user can then click on the respective 'Complete' button to submit the track in question, by following the asset completion process as described in the Scribe below.
